We’re pleased to announce two $120 scholarships for the 2014 Festival. The scholarships are being provided by DulcimerCrossing.com to promote and support younger dulcimer players and Mountain Dulcimer teachers in Colorado and the west.
One $120 scholarship is being offered for each of the following categories:
- youth or young student of either Mountain or Hammered Dulcimer
- mountain dulcimer teacher (must be currently/actively teaching students)
To apply, please contact us by email and provide a brief description of why the person should be considered (financial need, special circumstances, unique opportunity, etc.). We are especially interested in knowing how the instrument has affected the applicant’s life and what the person hopes to do with the skills learned. Be sure to include the applicant’s full name, address, phone, and email (include parent information if youth).
The scholarship covers Festival registration and two meals provided at the Festival; all other costs (lodging, meals, instrument rental, transportation, etc.) are the responsibility of the scholarship recipients. A parent or guardian must accompany the youth scholarship recipient.
The deadline for applications is December 31. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email by January 6.
The Colorado Dulcimer Festival thanks Dulcimer Crossing for these scholarships. Dulcimer Crossing is a comprehensive online learning resource for Hammered and Mountain Dulcimer players. Students learn from multiple instructors and at their own pace, with lessons for all learning styles and skill levels. The Festival and www.DulcimerCrossing.com invite all dulcimer players to share in the joy of making music.
