Welcome to the CDF’s new Featured Artist page. Every so often, during this time when we are not able to gather in person, we want to share the work of some of our favorite artists with you, virtually. We are delighted that our first featured artist is Festival veteran and revered performer Ted Yoder.

About Ted Yoder
Ted Yoder doesn’t really look like anyone’s idea of a rock star; his goofy smile and bare feet (he slips off his shoes whenever possible) might make you think he’s your new slightly eccentric neighbor. The impression might be reinforced when you learn he and his wife Donna live in Indiana and have seven children, and that Ted tries to take them along when he goes to work.
And then there’s the pet raccoon. Yep, you are thinking: eccentric neighbor. But you will be required to revisit your not-a-rock-star belief the first time you hear Ted (the 2010 National champion) play his hammered dulcimer.
Try Ted’s lesson and performance here, and you’ll see what I mean. If you enjoy them, and the arrangement he’s provided for your own playing, please consider visiting one of Ted’s donation sites and donating a sum that represents the pleasure and learning you had from the experience. These are hard times for musicians; we hope our Featured Artists series will help replace some of the income our favorite artists have lost.
